SPOILER: Kate Gompert is my favorite character so far. Personalizing her experience, I would say her "filter" represents Expectation. In our culture, expectation is dialed up at every opportunity. And the knob only goes one way. Some of us get a short break, where it disappears for a couple hours, maybe once or twice in our adult lives. But the breaks make you conscious of the filter.
