Chapter 12. Stephen is a tedious but necessary character. If my dad and my dad's dad hadn't been changed by this book and I didn't feel a part of myself spiritually tethered to it I would probably give up around this point. By persisting through Stephen's rambling about Anne Hathaway and Thomas Aquinas, Bloom's simple way of being in the world becomes so much more compelling.
