OK, computers are mentioned. Supposedly the powers that be decided they were bad. To be fair, I'm reading the second book in this series, so I guess it all could have been set up in the last book. Still a pretty straightforward mystery. The whole post apocalyptic thing seems a lot like lipstick on a pig.

A cassette tape as the main clue? Mobile phones but still land lines? No computers or internet? No CDs? This is supposed to take place in 2021, and was written in 1998. It is a good mystery, but a poor attempt at writing the future if you don't even use the technology which exists when you are writing.
