I've always wondered why we swear on a bible with statements like "So help me God," in formal public settings when Christ commanded his followers to "Let your word be ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no.’ More than this is from the evil one." Never made the connection to a "Patriotic Gospel" like there is a "Prosperity Gospel".
