Read:
Julius Caesar:
A very good play. About the idealism of Brutus, misconstruction, the death of democracy in Rome (possibly other places), a certain dislike for common folk (portrayed as easily swayed and stupid); generally, this play is more 'classical' (to Shakespeare) than his other plays. I believe this makes it much easier to read than other plays of his. Not the best, but better than many; I enjoyed it.

Read A Winter's Tale and The Tempest.
I liked W more, although I find the supernatural stuff strange. And, moreover, was Pualina punishing Leontes? Like, she magics Hermione back to life, but before this we see her chastising, or seeming to chastise, him; punishing for killing her - the living? Did Paulina even know Hermione was living? That confused me.

Read Macbeth.
I thought it was pretty good, although not as cohesive in plot as I would have wished. Why does Macduff suspect Macbeth? Why is Macbeth suddenly considered a tyrant? Like many Shakespeare plays, it has sexism; for instance, Lady Macbeth must "unsex" herself to be cruel. Manliness is questioned within the play, with people using it to cajole into murder, and as a common descriptor of events.

I read Othello, Hamlet, and King Lear.
They were all pretty good, but I liked Othello the most. It's easier to understand because there are relatively few characters, and the "psychological depth" (almost all evil Iago does relies on his ability to manipulate pre-existing flaws within the other characters). A nice classic.
