Just finished the Eustace Diamonds, very enjoyable due to the captivating Lizzie Eustace and her escapades with suitors and diamonds

After a hiatus due to a broken Kindle I’ve now read two of the six Palliser novels, Can you forgive her? and Phineas Finn. The first is headstrong heiress and unsuitable suitor material that I’ve met before with Trollope. The second is handsome young Irishman in Parliament and has some tremendous characters and is great fun. Both v enjoyable, esp Phineas Finn with its Parliamentary setting

Just finished the first book, this will be a long haul. Can you forgive her? concerns a familiar Trollope motif, stubborn misguided heiress rejects perfect match for total wrong’un. I forgave her long ago, says the author, but it’s hard for the reader to forgive her, and therein lies the story. I like the nuanced psychology behind all these memorable characters. Much subtle humour too.
