Stopping before the Medieval times/arrival of Islam, as am now concerned with the world history until the 10-12th century. So far, a great selection and commentary, more academic than the Hindu Tradition, but still highly readable.

A very clear description and commentary on the sources and points of connection and difference between Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana.

A thorough intro into Theravada buddhism. Surprised to see an exercise I was given at a Thai monastery for meditation in one of the ancient texts included here.

A great section on Jainism here. I didn’t know they were and still are atheists. Interesting excerpts from their Manysidedness doctrine (one can look at an object from many sides and come to different conclusions) and an example of dialectic regards a creator god.
