Fascinating, though many of the examples may be familiar. That said, the epilogue really sings, and Smith draws upon his family’s history to close out the book with some deeply moving passages. It is a sobering read, and Smith acknowledges that he does not „have all the words to discuss a crime that is still unfolding.“ At a time when many want to wish the past away, Smith reminds us that the past isn‘t even past.
