How is it? I have heard so much contradictory stuff about the translation. I have never read Indira Goswami in translation.

It seems like teenage fiction. Slow and simple. Something you can finish in an hour. Mature readers may find it boring. But from History perspective it is informative. Translation is fine. I wouldn't really recommend a translated book when you can read it as it was penned down by the author. The soul is lost in translation, mostly. :(
Huh! That shows how much I have read of her. I didn't have any idea that she did write light fiction. All her books that I have read are heavy tomes, dense in both language and ideas. Do read her autobiography someday. You might also enjoy reading The Legends of Pensam. I read it recently and it was quite (actually very) good.
