Clark Ashton Smith is still good. Not as good as Lovecraft, but better than the rest.

The last few stories of the book were, once again, fairly unremarkable.

The good streak continues. Bang! You're Dead! was my first Ray Bradbury, but it won't be the last. The Beasts of Barsac wasn't the greatest but it had a cute end twist. Cellmate was all right, if not remarkable. None of them sucked.

These are much better. Heart of Atlantan and The Phantom Slayer stand a head and shoulder above almost everything else in this book. I hope this trend continues.

I was disappointed with Robert E. Howard's entry - Black Hound of Death really had nothing remarkable to it except the racism - but H.P. Lovecraft, as usual, weaves a grand tale of science fiction. Everything up until Beyond the Wall of Sleep has been pretty mediocre: the contrast was glaring.

The Man Who Returned... it's like a grotesque parody of It's A Wonderful Life. A horrific reversal, in the enjoyable sort of way.
