I am quite sure I am not the audience for this book of poetry. From what I have gathered from his poems Simon approached his experience with women from a really high horse due to which for me it often sounded ridiculously pretentious as if he would see himself in his disastrous destructive state as a winning lottery ticket and be clueless why would a woman leave him for a more stable and loving human being.

I’ve just embarked on the poems of his mom which I might say are a pleasant surprise. None of the pretentious suffering I hated is there however some poems still consist mostly of personal associations that are not in any way explained or intelligible by common knowledge. If such visuals are your cup of tea you might like this book more overall as most of the poems are these hardly relatable observational moments.
