I found it hard to sympathize at times w/ Simone who's greatest trauma was her parents divorce. She's a spoiled brat, her aunt calls it lovingly. It's a character flaw that a nonparent sees.

It's jarring when compared to the strength we see that that 12 year old Lotus had. Who has to find some inner strength to survive what was done to her by her mom's horrible boyfriend.
