The author clearly has something against TX. Second disparaging comment in 40 pages. And the dedication and "acknowledgment" were a bit much too. Chip on the shoulder much?

He has lived here, in TX that is. I can't remember if Kyle is still here or not. He keeps a pretty good eye on remarks on his books so he may tell us. LOL.

Interesting. Well, at least he's speaking from experience. I hate that people think TX is so bigoted. I mean, there certainly are people like that here, but there are a lot of people who love the lgbt community as well.
I know he lived in Houston at one time. My son hated Houston because they don't have a large community like Dallas does. He moved to Atlanta. For some reason I'm thinking Kyle is West Texas the last I heard but maybe it was NM now. Crap my recollection is going to the dogs.
Oh, and I have to say, the police ANYWHERE suck as far as LGBT regardless as to who is or is not a gay mayor.
