As I read this book, I can’t help imagining the From Dusk till Dawn cast rampaging through & kicking ass. Because hot damn. Not awful, but: 1) Annie is an idiot; 2) it feels like the middle of an established series even tho it’s the first book; 3) emphasis on how tiny, petite, girlish Annie is (aka Tiny Doll of Womanhood fetish). I’ve got nothing against short heroines, but I do hate when tiny = shorthand trigger for sexy hero’s enslavement. Tall girls like to feel feminine & protected by sexy heroes too, goddammit!
