They weren't the original silver ball carriers, but somehow, for some reason, giving rings was a tradition for those people. Cal must have felt the urge and decided to indulge it. . . They had moved to the fire and found their clothes had dried, allowing them to change out of the ill-fitting spares. The flames still crackled away merrily, as if the attack and its aftermath had never happened. Unfortunately, Cal could see his mother and the others were not equally inclined to forget it. ❣️😝

The whistle of the wind rose and fell as it funneled through the rocks behind Anja and beat against her back. The long lonely note of it reminded her of the call to peace that happened every evening in the clifftop of Nanganya on Aponi. Evocative. Mournful, in a way. But she was not in Nanganya anymore. Already fallen so in love with the story from the very first sentences 💞
