James Seger Hey, let me know what you think of the book. I read it years ago, but to be honest, I don't remember much about it beyond the general outline.

I enjoyed it, but reading the reviews I think I got something from the book some others might not have. I found Toru to be an unreliable narrator, and it definitely colored the story. Him repeatedly telling us how ordinary and nonchalant he is about everything while almost every other character had at least something extraordinary about them showed a bit of an inferiority complex, which also called in to question whether all the sexual acts actually happened or were part of his remembered fantasy. I do feel the ending was a bit rushed and that Toru WAS pretty awful to Midori, who was by far my favorite character. 3.5 stars rounded up.

James Seger I seem to remember Midori being my favorite as well. Now I kind of want to read the book again.

I also added the movie to my Netflix queue (I'm the last user that still gets DVDs).
