Even without looking at the artist, Jim Starlin's style is obvious. The art of these Bronze Age-stories collected in Superman vs. Mongul is extremely similar to Starlin's Infinity Gauntlet , and the titular villain is akin to Darkseid in looks and Thanos in character.

The first four stories make somewhat of a complete tale, with the fourth tale turning Mongul into somewhat of a returning villain as Mongul simply shows up with another plan, this time to destroy Superman and Earth.
