I've attempted to read this book before, and always quit when I got to enthalpy. It looks like you're simply taking the energy released through heat (which you can measure, right?), and adding an additional work term that automatically zeroes out just so you can call the "heat" energy "enthalpy" instead. But if it were simple semantics, why the math? This time I'm just gonna push through despite not understanding.
