You leave designs from Dark Crystal out of this mess!

Did you just mash together every European fairytale, myth, folk tale, Shakespeare play, Dickens, Defoe, and Jim Henson into a generic must put proper monarch on the throne plot line? You also killed the girl's love interest simply to motivate her. And I swear these ladies don't have personalities, just being sexy and fighters. Though I actually do like some of the character designs.

I owe C.S. Lewis an apology for saying the world building in his Narnia books was to messy because Father Christmas and Dionysus were running around in Narnia. I clearly didn't know what messy world building was until I came across this volume. I wish I could read reviews of this train wreck by both Tolkien and Lewis. It would be hilarious.

Did she seriously just put a corset on without a garment underneath the corset? That isn't how you wear a corset! Also far to much nudity. But at least both male and female characters or more or less equally objectified I guess...

What fever dream produced this mess? The art work sometimes works, but honestly it's so ornate that it's far to busy. I may try and finish this book, but honestly I don't get the appeal. Maybe it works better in the original French? But honestly this book is some feverish mash up of everything. Scrooge as one of the seven deadly sins, Oberon king of Avalon, and nothing makes any sense...

Gah! This world building is a mess! I think there are more mythologies running around than in Narnia and none of them make sense if you know anything about the actual mythologies. What is going on with Titania and Oberon, and what are they doing in some weird version of Norse mythology mashed up with Arthur and Celtic mythology and designs? The artwork is lovely though.
