In the book the parents of Tandy have bin murdered. Tandy is at the top of the suspect list because the cops find it weird that she always ask question about what had happen to her parents. The police have found a bottle of poison in the trash. They traced the poison to the water glass the parents were drinking the very last night they were seen alive.
