Better than expected! I loved the first books but lately I think that the series have become too dark and depressing (in particular since the death of lady Helen). I especially appreciate the description of the friendship of Lynley and the St James's. The surrounding characters are still described in such a harsh unforgiving light (as selfish, narrowminded and et c) that I loose interest in them and skip those pages.
