Oopsie. If I'd been paying any attention, I'd have noticed that the series name is Royal Powers II. As in, 2. As in, presumably a 1 came first, which would explain why the recap of past events I'm reading sounds like it's recapping A LOT of events. Like, maybe a whole previous series worth of events. Duh.
Gotta decide whether to throw in the towel now, or to press forward in the hopes it can stand on its own...

I really wonder why it was started as a new series, though. That implies a sort of stand-alone-ability, no? Otherwise it could have been just one more book in the original series. 🤔

I second Lanka. This the first book in the series I read and it stands well on its own. There's enough info about other characters to get the idea of who they are, but you don't have to know their complete stories unless you want to.
On the other hand, the first book is worth the read. Just saying.
