90% of what I’ve read so far is literally just describing and re-describing the same four people. 😅
I haven't read that one, but I know Hawthorne can be THICK. In general, tho, I think purple prose is largely subjective.
Oh I agree. I like lengthy descriptions, but I wish there was more plot in this one to string it all together, lol.
