Having just finished the Ambassadors, I'm not sure that I can take anymore James right now, even though this particular book is staring out at me imploringly from my book shelf. Shall I hide it under an old shoe? Is it bearable? Or will I once again be tortured for the next 6 weeks, by James doing intelligent unreadable things with prose?
