I placed my head on his chest and he wrapped his arm around me. We held each other as closely as possible. A reminder that it was over, that we were together. The feel of him, the smell of him, it kept me anchored to the present, casting out the cold that seeped into me from the cold stone floor and the putrid smells that still lingered in my nose.
