Rather a snooze thus far. As with BLOODROSE HOUSE, I can't understand why the author insists on writing in third person. Her first person voice in NORTHWATER was highly nuanced & added real tension to a 'quiet' gothic. Why didn't she write that style again? >:( These other books waffle on about cozy British Isle villages...and not much else.

"Now, let's leave it at that." ....Gee, what with the constant comparisons to Jane Eyre, it would be SO SURPRISING if the wife was still alive! Not.
