I'm going to DNF here I think. I feel like I've read all I need to know that I don't like this. I don't understand how so many people gave this such high ratings. Perhaps my standards are just really strict or something. There are many other things that I could be reading and would probably enjoy vastly more. It's too bad because the premise is really great.

I dunno how far I'm gonna make it through this.... Can't even really explain why I'm continuing to read it because it's really just not that good. The simplicity of the writing feels as though it's written for middle grade fiction and not young adult despite some of the themes and situations. I'm unimpressed with the elementary level attraction and Liv. Gabe is only slightly more interesting since he's djinn.

-SIGH- This book has been on my TBR list for ages. I was SO there when I saw a djinn/genie paranormal romance come my way! ...but it's proving to be childish and simply written....

Kenne This is just a sliver of my issues with this book. Largely I don't like how it's written in terms of the simplicity. It feels like it's written for middle graders. The characters feel flat and inconsistent. I don't care too much for Liv as a whole and I don't understand the purpose of the over-the-top way her parents were killed. It seemed needlessly extra and could have been an entire story of it's own.

Just when I thought it couldn't possibly get worse this happens,
"Ty raised an eyebrow. "I'm a very straight male, and even I can tell you he's probably the sexiest guy in your school. Even if you don't think so, he'll make Kole see red.""
Just for some background Ty is Liv's 22 year old brother... I'm not saying this conversation *couldn't* happen but I find it EXTREMELY unlikely that a 22 year old young professional would say something like this to his 16 year old sister (who he's been taking care of along with their grandmother for six years) and then continue to encourage her to persue a teenage boy or, excuse me, Ty called him a "boy toy". Does the author know anything about men or, hell, older brothers? Not even a younger brother would say or do something like that.

Bah! So dissapointing.
