On page 57 on animal senses (specifically Listen), the little brown bat is described, with its echolocation skills. Yet, the picture is clearly a flying fox; flying foxes (fruit bats) are incapable of echolocation, except for one genus, Rousettus. People, please, get the facts right!!

Oh my gosh, no. COME ON!! They used the description of a slender loris for the slow loris. The range of slow lorises is mentioned as southern India and Sri Lanka; nope, completely wrong, slow lorises do not live there at all, that's slender lorises. Also, any modern scientific paper will tell you that fruit is not a significant component of loris diets.

Um...so...I'm really not *trying* to spot these but the "slow loris" on this page is actually a slender loris. From one of his other books. In fact, I'm starting to notice a lot of familiar-looking pictures...

Vampire bats do not "suck" blood; this is a common misconception. They make a small cut with their super-sharp incisors. Their saliva has an anticoagulant in it, which keeps the blood from clotting, and they lap up the blood then. They usually only drink an ounce or so, and most animals never even wake up through the process. Sigh... and the perpetuation of bat myths continues...
