Desperation. Acts of ultimate desperation. And no one can pay for this crime, this sin; death is already biting their fleeing heels.

When someone breaks, they must be cared for. It is the human way. It is the animal way.
There are hands on your arms and feet on your legs: Use them, do the work you can do, don't let the world sag for want of your piece of the infinite work we *must* do.

Get Socrates. He needs to know he is still relevant, 2500 years later.

All the world needs right now is this next event. I don't know but what I don't agree w/Mark, being so angry & afraid.

How horrible Mark is, how much hate one person can pour out on another! Teenagers, faugh.
And little Sky, never forgiven for just Being. Terrible way to subsist...scrape by. No wonder he treasures words, although Lonely will always mean more than it probably should for one without blame for the hate he carries.

Sky asks, what's an apple?

Poor poor pod of people...pregnant Tie, angry teen Mark, innocent quick Sky w/his "deep scratches of words" formed into questions unforgiving Mark rejects & soft, dying Teller modulates w/his stories. What a dry, hateful world in the unremitting heat.

When you're reduced to five, losing one is disastrous. When the one who dies is the oldest, most experienced one, the disaster is compounded. Then there's the unrelenting hostility of the world. The unforgiving eternally angry sea, the fires, the ruins that barely shelter...the stakes are immense plus a baby's on the way.
Hard to imagine how this can end well....
