Decent read- good insight into the Red Guard movement and the Cultural Revolution. She starts off a loyal and progressive student and is disillusioned over time because Communism is always a failure and always will be. Lack of opportunities, assigned jobs, locations she is not allowed to leave without permission and rampant corruption reign free in her story- which is one of so many like it across history.
