Well sourced, written with a borderline boring level of detail, author uses both "soccer" and "football" interchangeably (a little unsettling). Interesting subject matter but so far I'm not seeing a lot of evidence in favor of his thesis, that fandom Spartak Moscow (branded "the people's team") provided Muscovites/Russians with a safe and socially/politically acceptable way to stick it to the man, so to speak.
