I'm pretty impressed so far. The author reads the book himself and while he's not at the rank of Scott Sigler when it comes to authors reading their own work, he reads at a good pace and has a nice reading voice.

This was a bit slow to get into at first, as it takes a while for things to get started. I've been listening more to professional audiobooks so it took me a while to get used to listening to someone who isn't a professional narrator reading all the different voices and so on. Like I said though, the author still has a good voice and his narration is fine. I can tell he's putting in effort, which helps make up the difference.
There are some flubs here and there, but I took those as being in the spirit of the piece itself as the book is "written" as if it were a series of audio recordings narrated and uploaded by a government scientist. There are going to be some accidental words and whatnot.
What really hooked me was the mystery behind the plants and the possibility that it may never have an explanation and that the most important part was that the narrator needs to survive - and hopefully the human race can as well.
