i do think this book uses a lot of euphemisms about enslaved Africans (Black people) and it’s very jarring to me. i think calling people who sold into slavery- forced migrants- understates the actual brutality and state of being enslaved.

this is one of the whitest books i have ever read? it has a one-dimensional understanding about Black people and slavery… it’s very disgusting and odd
