Just finished the The Humor Of Homer. The author spends the majority of the time arguing that the author of the adviser was a woman. His argument is essentially:
*details regarding seamanship are sparse and inaccurate
* Odysseus meets a woman while she is washing laundry and his clothes ha e been washed away
* this woman is intelligent and pretty
*women are painted well and men look a bit silly.
I'm not convinced.
