*Lovely,* witty fast-paced character sketch amidst a lot of "what lovely Appalachian wilderness" prosey prose. Such a queer juxtaposition of modern/Victorian. It reminds me, however, why I prefer authoresses to authors - men (almost) never catch the minor details that illustrate individuals and bring the scene awake.
