I’m uncontrollably sobbing. Rue has passed, and district eleven has given katniss the bread. This is horribly cruel wtf, how were we reading this at 12/13 tf?

Okay so as I keep reading I am realizing that when I read this at first my empathy levels were low cuz I was twelve. Now the cruelty of it is intense, I feel so sorry for these children being forced by the rich people to do horrible things. The worst thing is that I can picture it happening in the future ngl.

First of all, all teenagers should read at least the first few chapters. Second of all, I expected the social commentary, I completely forgot or couldn’t appreciate at age 13 the amount of marketing and pr included within the book.
