Can anyone recommend a real biography of Richards please.

I don't get it. How can this book get such good reviews? Almost none of it is in the author's own words. It's just other people's quotes strung together. From what I have read so far there are no insights or genuine research or anything that the author has come up with himself. Maybe it gets better as it goes on but I'm not sure I can get there. One chapter I read was 95% quotes. The author contributes nothing.
