LOL..I've told myself I cannot start any new books until I'm finished. My sister will NOT see the movie or play because she had such a deep relationship with the book when she read it and doesn't want it "ruined". I can understand her dilemma. It's one of those books that transports you into its own world, if you let it.

It's a real challenge to get into the style and rhythm of 19th century prose, but once you do it sweeps you away. My biggest struggle is getting distracted by unfamiliar historical references. I just confess that it does take a real commitment to read, but I feel rewarded by the effort. My notes & highlights could be the length of a normal novel. ;-)

I'm reading an unabridged version on my ipad. I know there are other editions that edit out more of the lengthy digressions into the Napoleanic wars, etc., but don't settle for one that condenses it too much.

Not the same ISBN, but I believe it is the same fully unabridged version. Never tried the audio....could be a more engaging way to read it.
