We are the poorest and weakest state in the world, occupying the lowest position in international affairs; the rest of mankind is the carving knife and the serving dish, while we are the fish and the meat-Sun Yat-sen. China is split between global empires and even among itself no one stood to fill this gap of power. Sun and Chiang are both trying but only one can succeed.

It can not understate the importance of mei-lings importance to China; especially in the foreign relations branch. Through the age of warlord to the corruption that swept the Kuomintang, she stood as a bastion that maintained her trust and dignity. Helping China to her furthest extent after being put in charge of foreign relations, this had major effects; especially in the USA.

In this book, we can see the impact of Madame SongMei Ling's early life on her later life. As we see the chaos boiling around her and the sudden rise and fall of rulers must have made a large impact in her future, where she tried to unite all this chaos under one rule and to stabilize all that had fallen apart, and help restore China to its former glory.
