Chapter #8 Shelly Knotek is one I can relate to. I grew up in a similar situation (narcissistic abuse dynamics) - though our mother didn't escalate to murder. But had our golden child brother killed someone (likely on her behalf) I would not be shocked if she insisted we normalize and cover it up. That is the kind of manipulator she is/was. We're not all raised the same and abusive dynamics are unfortunately common
