She is in witness protection, has survived a murder attempt, and has advanced martial arts training, but she's petrified by a spider and has to get a man to save her?? I'm really despising this FMC.

Her anklet tracker is small enough to tuck into her bra, which means it is not a typical home monitoring bracelet but probably looks like a, wait for it, anklet. Why the hell couldn't she just wear it? Why would people look at it and think it's anything but jewelry? It was, of course, never described so who knows. I'm so tired of these stupid plot choices that make no sense and missing descriptive detail.

Shiloh just freaked out about not being able to watch slasher movies bc it would trigger her PTSD & then decided to watch GAME OF THRONES, a very violent series. Insert eye roll here. Of course then she gets scared of a scene of men riding horses with ominous music but no violence. Boy holds hand; she's fine now! Binge watching the violence with absolutely no issues ensues - Colt has a magic hand! EYE ROLL

Then she shares that she was a twin and gives her sister's actual name. Um, this is a contemporary story, which means anyone could google those two names, twin, and death, and find out her true identity. Shi keeps talking about HOW CAREFUL she must be, and she does nothing but stand out as a victim, draw attention to herself, and share information she shouldn't be sharing. I am SO ANNOYED.

Okay, so I was prepared to give this book a pass for being SO clichéd but still horribly off plot-wise, but it's getting worse and worse. The author seems to be building off all the witness protection books and movies out there but making it ridiculous. Our FMC changes her last name, but not her first name. She introduces her uncle as her uncle, and he keeps the same name too. How is this WITSEC?
