My work on "The Snake-Catcher of Scottsdale" began at a time when I had family members living there. I recall that a relative mentioned someone in town held that job, and it was much needed at the time, so I couldn't help but imagine what sort of person might do this. And what sort of family he might have. This was published in the literary press a while back, and the editor really fell in love when he read it aloud.

The story "Star Player" came out of an assignment at UC, Irvine, where we were asked to take one aspect of a classic tale and twist it into something new. I chose the character's flat refusal to comply with orders. So, a kid in peewee softball says, "I'd rather not." What fun to write the mayhem that ensued!

For some reason, GR can't link the ASIN in the book to Amazon. So here's the direct link. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JMJ111W
