Everything Nairn writes is extraordinarily vivid - for this reason, I only read bits and pieces at a time, but even that tiny dosage is enough to get me excited about this city and wanting to explore all of these gems.

This guy is so biased but in the best way. I love how strongly he feels about everything - it’s either pure amazement or sheer horror with nothing in between. To project these feelings when I visit the places he mentions gives them a particular charm.
