I started reading this at about 2am yesterday and by about 6am I was almost halfway through the book. The story is moving way too fast and there isn't a great deal of depth in the story (so far). The writing is so different ( I won't say 'bad'...) but I think Mariah is trying to capture the aesthetic of the language of a Norse man from just under 2000 years ago but they still talk with somewhat modern terms.
