To prevent the prosecution of the clone for crimes they don't remember, why not simply inhibit the download & activation of the clone in cases where the original committed a felony between the last refresh and death? If you're suspected of committing a felony, you'd lose your posthumous right to your clone's activation. It would require a delay for all clones between the originals death & activation, but... ok?

If the implant in a person's neck registers death, causing their consciousness to "immediately download" into the clone, what happens if a person is resuscitated? You know, what if they pull a Buffy drowning at the end of season 1 scenario?

"And if Con D’Arcy was dead, what did that make her?" ... Her clone, idiot. You have all of the same memories. What are we but experiences/choices, specifically MEMORIES of experiences/choices? You ARE Con, minus 18 months of memory - like amnesia. Shouldn't there have been a specialized psych eval before cloning was approved?
