Dan Upton Sounds interesting. I read a couple books of Chinese SF and it mentioned it might be hard for westerners to fully grasp the references or metaphors, do you think the same is true in a collection like this?

Prateeksha S Re Chinese SF I enjoyed Cixin Liu (Rememberance Trilogy), and Ken Liu (American, born China) who writes beautifully. These works were quite approachable to me.

Indian SF (especially scifi) is yet to come into it's own. But this book is a good attempt. Some of the stories in this anthology are really good. But it's not strictly scifi (although the title says so). Since SF and scifi are speculative, there's not too many cultural references. Also, these stories are mostly written by authors with considerable western influence (education and writing). More so than Chinese SF, I would suspect. Highly recommend picking up Vol 2 (Vol 1 I heard is not as good). Would advise low to zero expectations as people are, first, not writing in their native language, one of the first Indian SF/scifi writers and are yet to hone their craft. 😁
