It’s a (highly recommended) hidden gem!And surprisingly enough for Balogh, set entirely in 1840 Wales! It’s a wild, emotional ride.

Oh my god, yes! I loved this book and definitely a hidden gem..if you can handle the Welsh les miserables on steroids aspect. Lol.
Lol. MB really stepped out of her ‘comfort zone’ with this book! It’s one of the most political HRs i’ve ever read.
I really hope to savour it this time because there’s a lot going on.
Meg, I am loving your last few updates regarding the old HR books of Mary Balogh. I love her writing but never know what to pick from her earlier books. I have enjoyed reading Longing, it has the same theme and setting as this book.
Thank you for reminding me to give Longing a second chance! I found it a little too bleak last time I picked it up, maybe bc it presents the other (ugly) side of the revolts! I remember loving the main romance though
