Grover's shoe went crazy and they used an element from a early part of the story to save him, the element was that his shoes didn't really fit him because he had hooves. also now we have the dark pit that was foreshadowed earlier I just hope whatever is it there is not scary.

A common theme so far in the book, is everyone is a person, not just a monster or obstacle to overcome. all of the themes have a personality, with dislikes and joys. also, another theme or breadcrumb is having comedy in place to not just relieve us the reader from what happened previously but also furthering the plot and ending conflicts to and I like that.

development of Grover's and Annabeth's background and character is good to see, even tho Grover feels guilty about losing Thalia, everyone else is cheering him up and reassuring him it was not his fault. then Annabeth who we now know tried to get back home to be with her dad but was at fault because of the monster attacks, poor her. also, we learned she is afraid of spiders because of her mom turning a girl into one.

Ares has shown up and wanted our main gang to fetch his shield in a bonded tunnel of love, don't ask why just know he was on a "date". Annebeth changing his clothes after days without spare ones is adorable and being embarrassed to go down with Percy in the tunnel to get are's shield is an intereasting trait to have and I'm hoping for more of this to show up later in the book.

the progression between Annebeth and Percy is good to see, they both have issues with each other Annebeth doesn't like Percy because of his dad and impulsive nature. And Percy dislikes Annabeth's stuck up and seriousness. but both of them need each other because in this together honestly they both kinda new to this questing thing and hey what a quest without inner conflict.

good pacing so far. and the relationship between Percy and Grover is realistic and kinda funny to see in their conversation. I'm loving it so far and I.m excited to see more.

the journey has started Percy, Annebeth and Grover have survived their encounter with the furies and now they have met the mysterious aunt em let see how this unfolds. also, Mrs. Dodds is hinted at being alive, which means the check-off gun is now loaded and I'm excited to see when that gun is going to shoot, hitting the story into something interesting.

I feel that the setup is over, and the story now is preparing to become the reason why this book series got so famous and I'm excited for what's to come. also, I like that the main cast are given proper gear for there quest, so now when they find themselves fighting monsters they stand a chance of winning.

currently the voice I heard while reading was friendly and welcoming which makes sense because Luke was basically a big brother to Percy welcoming him to camp and helping him adjust to this situation
