I really like the way the author describes the characters' accents. It helps me create the proper voice in my head immediately. I've never read a book that's done that so well before.

That last passage quelled my misgivings about the hints of racism in the story. It's giving the world an authentic old west feel while still promoting the sensibilities of our modern age. Tactfully done, author.

Not sure I'm comfortable with the hints of racism in this chapter. Sure, back then in the real wild west it was acceptable to behave that way, so it might have been realistic to write the characters as such, but this book is obviously not about the real wild west, what with all the magic and sorcerey...

That was only the first chapter but it's already restored my wavering faith in trying out new books! Been reading so many mediocre and downright bad books recently...please don't let this one stop being so good! Don't disappoint me...

Another library booksale find and I'm already much more pleased with it, compared to the last book (Four Crows). The writing is excellent, no typos, easy to read, and I'm already intrigued by some tiny mentions of supernatural forces. Was not expecting that in what seemed to be nothing more than a western but it's promising!
