Finished the first novel in this five-book collection: "The House without a Key". This looks to be the first Charlie Chan novel by Earl Der Biggers, and Charlie Chan has a somewhat minor role in this 1925 coming-of-age/murder mystery. However, the role of the detective is central to the action if not central to the plot.
I've begun the second novel now: "The Chinese Parrot." So far, so good.
